366th AMDS names its warriors of the week Published Oct. 27, 2009 MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Senior leaders with the 366th Aerospace Medicine Squadron recently selected the following individuals as their warriors of the week. The recognition program highlights members of the 366th Fighter Wing who make significant contributions to their unit and the base. Capt. David Cruz Unit and duty title: 366th Aerospace Medicine Squadron bioenvironmental flight commander Time in Air Force: Four years Time at Mountain Home Air Force Base: Four months Hometown: Somerset, N.J. Hobbies: Music, playing guitar, reading and auto repair What service does Captain Cruz provide to the Gunfighters? Captain Cruz directs bioenvironmental engineering to provide occupational health and disaster management services. Most memorable Air Force moment. "I was on a joint exercise with the Army somewhere in the southeast U.S. It was very hot and humid, and there was no running water. We had to eat our MREs quickly before the swarms of flies attacked. The old maintenance area we ate in had only 20 or so chairs, not enough for the 250 plus people on the exercise. Not one person, including colonels, sat on the chairs as everyone wanted to save it for the next person. I have never eaten with better people or enjoyed my food more." Interesting personal fact: "The Air Force is a second career for me. I worked for 16 years as an engineer for various corporations then as a consultant. I am a licensed professional engineer in four states. My consulting days exposed me to numerous companies, large and small, and various workplace cultures. I like the Air Force the best. The concentration of talented, dedicated, high caliber personnel in the Air Force is unmatched." Why does Captain Cruz deserve to be a warrior of the week? "Captain Cruz brings with him a great deal of experience. He is dedicated to providing the best possible service to all Gunfighters and has already made improvements to his many programs." - Lt. Col. Peter Breed, 366th AMDS commander Airman 1st Class Bridget Powell Unit and duty title: 366th Aerospace Medicine Squadron public health technician Time in Air Force: One year and four months Time at Mountain Home Air Force Base: 11 months Hometown: San Angelo, Texas Hobbies: "Hanging out with my husband and two dogs, four wheeling, hunting, fishing and camping." Most memorable Air Force moment. "Seeing my little brother graduate from basic military training. He didn't have a clue what he was doing after high school, and when I decided to join, it helped him decide to join as well. He's doing great things with his life now." Interesting personal fact: "I'm a huge Texas football junkie - NFL, college and even my old high school team." Why does Airman Powell deserve to be a warrior of the week? "Airman Powell is always ready and willing to meet the many challenges involved with her work in the public health flight. Her outstanding attention to detail has allowed her to identify and correct food safety violations to protect the health of everyone that eats on base. She is an invaluable member of our team." - Tech. Sgt. Grace Smiley, 366th AMDS noncommissioned officer in charge of community health
