Gunfighters earn Air Force Meritorious Unit Award Published Nov. 2, 2009 MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Recently, Air Combat Command announced that the 366th Fighter Wing earned the Air Force Meritorious Unit Award for the period of June 1, 2008, to May 31, 2009. The Air Force Meritorious Unit Award is given to active duty, Reserve and Guard units for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding achievement or service in direct support of combat operations for at least 90 continuous days during the periods of military operations against an armed enemy of the United States on or after Sept. 11, 2001. Gunfighters earned the prestigious honor for the almost $100 million spent on construction projects that updated living quarters for families, visitors and temporary lodgers along with reducing the base footprint. The award also cited Mountain Home as the leader in Air Combat Command fitness test pass rates for nine out of the 12 months. During the time period, the 366th FW also conducted the historic bed down of the Republic of Singapore air force. "This award is a tribute to the Gunfighter teamwork we see each and every day here at Mountain Home AFB," said Col. John Bird, 366th FW commander. "We have accomplished a lot over the last year and a half, and it has not gone unnoticed. I congratulate the entire wing on this great honor."
