The recognition program highlights members of the 366th Fighter Wing who make significant contributions to their unit and the base. Ms. Diana Curl Unit and duty title: 366 Contracting Squadron, Contracting Specialist Time in Air Force: I've spent 16 years working as a civilian for the Air Force and I spent eight years active duty. Time at Mountain Home Air Force Base: 11 years Hometown [city and state]: I grew up in a small city outside of Buffalo, NY called Lackawanna. Hobbies: I like reading , riding ATVs, gardening, traveling and spending as much time as possible with my husband Kevin, my son Kevin, my daughter Tiffany, and my new grandson Casey. My family is the source of my happiness. What service does Diana Curl provide to the Gunfighters? My position as a Contract Specialist is to act as a business advisor for large service contracts ensuring that I can determine the best alternatives to meet my customers' needs and requirements and to ensure that supplies and services are received on time and at fair and reasonable prices. My position requires me to promote competition, minimize administrative costs, and conduct business with integrity in support of the 366 Fighter Wing and base population. Most memorable Air Force moment. Please explain why it is memorable? It's difficult to give just one memorable moment. Each point in my career was memorable starting with my first assignment in Texas at the AF Cryptologic Support Center to learning to drive a stick shift in a government vehicle and a 10K forklift to loading aircraft engines as an airman in Germany. There was the onset of Deserts Shield/Storm and moving passengers to the Middle East and the bed down of the F117 at Holloman AFB, NM. I provided depot level maintenance support in Japan for the aircraft in the PACAF area and I ran Customer Service in LRS prior to coming to Contracting. I can wrap all this up with saying that I've worked with a quality group of people throughout the years who care about what they do, take care of each other and don't just consider the AF a job. To me that is most memorable. Interesting personal fact: I enjoy working together with people as a team. I've found that throughout the years of working with the government that teamwork provides the best results. Why does Ms. Diana Curl deserve to be a warrior of the week? "Ms. Curl is a valued member of the Contracting team who dedicates herself to the mission of our squadron and the wing. She has impeccable work ethics and will go the extra mile to ensure the base has vital services. She is also a conscientious steward of taxpayer dollars. When the initial grounds maintenance proposal was submitted, she tenaciously negotiated with the contractor, saving the government $4.8M. Her outstanding qualities as a contract specialist and commitment to the Fighter Wing mission are the reasons why Ms. Diana Curl is our warrior of the week."
