Divorce Care Class; Looking Toward Your Future Published Sept. 20, 2010 By Senior Airman Debbie Lockhart 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- More Airman are finding themselves in struggling relationships because of more frequent deployments and the strain that the military lifestyle puts on families. Liberty Chapel is offering a class on dealing with broken relationships, separations and divorce. The Divorce Care Class started September 8 and runs through December 7. The group meets on Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the chapel annex. Even though classes have already started; it is not too late to join. "This is a great opportunity to get some insight on dealing with relationships" said Master Sgt. Thomas Desantis, 366th Fighter Wing Staff first sergeant. "We see the need to offer hope, healing, and encouragement to those affected by such a life changing experience," said Laura Bondurant, 366th Fighter Wing protestant religious education coordinator, "the Divorce Care classes are a means of helping people deal with the trauma of divorce." This 13-week class focuses on the road to healing, facing anger and loneliness, child care, financial survival, moving on, and as this is a chapel run program, becoming closer to God. "We would like people to come away from the class feeling like they have 'tools' they can use to help process their situation and look forward to their future," said Bondurant. Child care is not provided, but there is a Divorce Care Class for kids being offered at the same time for children 5 to 12 years of age. "If someone would like to join the group they can call the Chapel or just come Wednesday evenings to the Chapel Annex," said Bondurant, "everyone is welcome to attend."
