Medical Readiness: Every Airman's responsibility Published April 4, 2011 By Senior Airman Erica Scott 366th Aerospace Medicine Squadron MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Deployments are part of the military way of life. Some deployment taskings are emergency driven and require a rapid response. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all Airmen to maintain their individual readiness status for deployment. Part of being ready to deploy is meeting certain medical requirements. The medical community uses Individual Medical Readiness to monitor the percentage of unit personnel's status. In the past, only unit leadership could see IRM status. Now, each individual can view and manage their own IMR. This new tool is accessible through the Air Force Portal or by directly accessing the Web site. To access one's IMR on the portal, go to "Featured Links" and click on "Fitness and Health" tab, then "Medical Readiness-Deployment Health" link to visit the Web site at https://asims.afms.mil/webapp. Once logged in, select "My Individual Medical Readiness Status" at the top of the page. There will be an overview of IMR status. Dates are provided to indicate when the last action was taken, and sometimes indicates when the next action is due. Each section is color coded to help identify current status: -- Green indicates current with requirements (for section) -- Yellow indicates a requirement is due -- Red indicates overdue (not ready for deployment) There are three sections to review IMR status: Immunizations, Medical Readiness, and Deployment Health Assessments. The goal is to have all areas green. Immunizations: Provides a list of immunizations received and dates when they are due. Yellow or red, indicates individuals are not ready to deploy and need to visit the immunizations clinic as soon as possible. Medical Readiness: Provides status of the following: Preventative Health Assessment: Last assessment date and next PHA will be due 12 months later. A link to web-PHA is available through AF Portal. Dental: If it isn't green, contact the Dental Clinic at (208) 828-7300. Dental exams are required annually. Labs: Typically, these requirements occur once in a career, with the exception of the HIV test which is required every 24 months. Individuals will be notified by email to report to the medical laboratory for HIV testing. Profile: No action required. Reports current status and indicates if someone is on a profile. Med Equipment: Those with corrective lenses must be issued corrective gas mask (M-50) inserts. Status will be green if personnel have gas mask inserts and red if they do not. Other: Other deployment requirements may be tracked. Such as automated neuropsychological assessment metrics (ANAM) testing, Deployment Health Assessments: Provides status of deployment health assessment requirements. Medical readiness is in every Airman's hands, and every Airman has a responsibility to be ready to deploy when the time comes.
