The Air Force Assistance Fund Golf Tournament was held at the Silver Sage Golf Course here April 28.

According to Stephen Vedder, the course manager and golf professional, there were 21 teams and 85 personnel participating in the event, which was also one of the base's first golf tournaments of the year.

"We were extremely happy and excited with the turnout," said Capt. Matt Rogers, officer in charge of the AFAF golf tournament and chief of readiness and plans for the 366th Force Support Squadron. "Approximately $1,300 was raised for the AFAF."

According to the campaign's Web site, www.afassistancefund.org, the AFAF was established to provide for an annual effort to raise funds for the charitable affiliates that provide support to the Air Force family's active duty, retirees, reservists, guard and their dependents, including surviving spouses.

The organizations provide assistance to the Air Force family in the form of aid in emergency, educational needs, or to have a secure retirement home for widows or widowers of Air Force members in need of financial assistance.

"It is always a pleasure to come out and support such a worthy event like the AFAF," stated Col. James McClellan, 366th Maintenance Group Commander.
