Combined Federal Campaign kicks off Oct. 4 Published Sept. 30, 2011 By Senior Airman Benjamin Sutton 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- The 2011 Combined Federal Campaign kicks off Oct. 4 with a luncheon at noon at the Gunfighter Club, followed by a 5K Fun Run at 3 p.m. and a charity fair immediately afterward in the Gunfighter Service Center ballroom. The base's goal is $100,000. There will be prize drawings throughout the entirety of the campaign. The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. CFC allows military personnel and government employees to donate money to worthy causes and helps the less fortunate. Established in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy, the CFC has more than 22,000 national and international charities which benefit from the contributions. Traditionally, MHAFB members have been phenomenally generous to the CFC. In 2009, base personnel contributed more than $117,000. "This year is the 50th anniversary of the CFC which basically acts as a single conduit for members to donate to the charitable organization of their choice," said Capt. Matthew Brill, security forces operations office and CFC wing point of contact. Being able to choose the recipient of a personal donation will allow Gunfighters to financially support the local charity of their choice. Regardless of how much you give, it's about the act of giving. Donations are being accepted on-line at www.intermountaincfc.org, follow the steps, choose either payroll deduction or credit card. Cash and checks will also be accepted by unit CFC representatives. The representatives will be getting with their individual units soon to begin accepting donations. The MHAFB campaign comes to a close Nov. 11.
