366th Operations Group welcomes new commander Published March 19, 2012 By Senior Airman Benjamin Sutton 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- The 366th Operations Group welcomed a new commander during a ceremony here March 19. Col. Christopher Sage assumed command of the 366th OG from Col. Kyle Robinson inside hangar 208 in front of spectators that included family, friends and local community leaders. Col. Ron Buckley, 366th Fighter Wing commander, who presided over the ceremony stated, "Col. Sage is perfect for his new role as commander of the 366th OG. His prior experience and, most recently, his time as commander of the 389th Fighter Squadron perfectly blended his academic, staff, operational and combat experience." The outgoing commander also praised Sage for his accomplishments. "Col. Sage has all the necessary attributes, traits and experience to succeed as a group commander," said Robinson. During his last deployment as commander of the 389th FS, Sage was responsible for the squadron's more than 1,400 combat hours flown and the employment of 680,000 pounds of munitions. "I am extremely humbled to have this amazing opportunity," said Sage. "I am very excited to take the group to the next level." Sage thanked Buckley for the opportunity to lead the OG into the future. "I take the 366th OG reputation and responsibilities of this command very seriously," said Sage. "I will do everything possible to preserve and improve our combat power and look forward to working with new personnel." As commander, Sage will oversee the flying operations of two F-15E squadrons and one F-15SG squadron. The OG has more than 900 military and civilian members assigned to the three fighter squadrons as well as the 366th Operations Support Squadron, the 266th Range Squadron and the 390th Electronic Combat Squadron, which flies Navy EA-6Bs in the Joint Prowler Program at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Wash.
