You can reduce your chances of getting sick by getting vaccinated, washing your hands frequently, using hand sanitizers, coughing into your elbow and limiting your exposure to infected individuals. Even after vaccination, some individuals can still get the flu. However, the severity of the illness may be decreased. If you have not been vaccinated yet, please visit the Immunizations Clinic in the hospital. The only way to confirm that you have influenza is to get a lab test from your physician. Sometimes it is necessary to miss work due to illness. If you are sick, the preferred method is seek care from your physician who can place you on quarters if necessary. Supervisors also have the authority to grant you one day off.
