Mountain Home Air Force Base played host to members of local television station KTVB on Monday, July 1, and Tuesday, July 2, as part of the station's celebration of its 60th anniversary.

According to broadcaster Mark Johnson, the station is travelling to "iconic entities" around the Boise area to document how they have changed since the station came into being.

"You can't do iconic entities without Mountain Home Air Force Base," said Johnson, who came out as part of a team looking to recreate an antique photo of the base.

The photograph, which Johnson estimated is from the 1950s, depicts a line of B29 bombers arranged on the flight line. With the help of teams from the base, the photograph was recreated with modern-day Strike Eagles replacing the antique planes.

The promotional commercial will run on Channel 7 through the end of the year as the television station continues to celebrate its diamond anniversary.

Johnson expressed his gratitude not only to those who helped make the commercial possible, but to all military men and women at Mountain Home Air Force Base.

"I am so proud to live here knowing Mountain Home Air Force Base is in my backyard," he said, "and how important a place it is for me and my family."
