Youth Center to host Month of Military Child carnival Published April 22, 2019 By Airman 1st Class JaNae Capuno 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- The base youth center will be hosting a free Month of the Military Child carnival April 27th 2019, at the youth center to celebrate military child resiliency.“Our military children and families are the best deal our nation gets,” said Gen. David Goldfein, Chief of Staff of the Air Force. “They exhibit a very special kind of courage when they endure the long hours, the hardships, and the separations that are part of our military service.”The carnival will be held 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. with 15 different games and booths, a bounce house if weather permits, and a photo station with props for families to enjoy. Hot dogs and chips will be available for purchase. Booths will display a variety of information about kid events, scholarships and programs for teens.“We want our Gunfighter kids to know how much we appreciate them and that we recognize the important part they play in our community,” said Lissa Hall, Youth Center programs director. “The Month of the Military Child carnival is an event where the whole community can celebrate and have the opportunity to say thank you to our amazing kids.”Destiny Campbell, recipient of the Idaho Military Youth of the year award, will also provide remarks.“Many times the focus is on the sacrifices that the active duty member is asked to make during their time in service – which of course is important and should be acknowledged,” Hall said. “However, it’s just as important to acknowledge the sacrifices military kids are asked to make as well.”
