Education center expands college school options for base community

MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho --  Mountain Home Airmen will soon have another school option available to them at the base education center.

Col. Joe Kunkel, 366th Fighter Wing commander, participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of Bellevue University January 18th.

“Bellevue University has joined the Mountain Home AFB Education Center team to bring expanded degree offerings to our Airmen, their families, and the Community of Mountain Home,” said Dirk Kuntz, Bellevue University military enrollment manager. “By continuing their education, students find themselves better prepared and more competitive for promotions and the eventual transition to civilian employment, whether be in four years or thirty years.”

Bellevue University will be the fourth university to offer local services at the education center for active duty members, guard, reserves and families.

“As a regionally accredited, private non-profit institution, Bellevue University offers leading edge education in high-demand fields like business, human resources and cybersecurity,” Kuntz said. “Our professors and faculty have spent up to 20 years working in their respective fields and continue to provide current, relevant instruction to students that will help prepare them for their futures.”

Kuntz said Bellevue University's main focus is graduate programs for the installation. The university will be offering four degree programs that will be taught in-house: Masters in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Science in Cybersecurity, and Science in Human Resources Strategic Administration. In addition to these four programs, there is 21 graduate programs and a Ph.D. program that are available entirely online to help accommodate busy schedules.

Bellevue University also offers over 50 undergraduate programs that pair well with Community College of the Air Force degrees to help Airmen maximize the credits they've earned.

The education center is available to provide counseling and academic guidance to ensure Airmen understand their benefits and options. They also provide mandatory tuition assistance briefs, assistance with submitting TA forms, help with identifying and build education goals, assistance in researching learning institutions to ensure they receive quality education, have information on commissioning options and details about certification programs.

In addition, the education center hosts testing facilities for College Level Examination Program/DANTES Subject Standardized testing, professional military education testing, Weighted Airman Promotion System testing and a multitude of other functions.

“As the ‘duty experts’ in education, testing and certification programs, we are available to provide the most accurate, up-to-date information on the programs and help ensure Airmen and their families make the most out of the benefits they've earned,” Kuntz said.
