366th Security Forces members recently returned from a 6-month deployment, marking the first time an Air Force unit operated in Manda Bay, Kenya.

During their time in Kenya, the Airmen built a U.S. Air Force Base Defense Operations Center in 12 days.

“We established base security which included building a base operations center, creating a full operations schedule and refortifying deficiencies in physical structures,” said Staff Sgt. Thaddeus Couchman, 366th SFS response force leader.

The Airmen also worked with the host nation, helping to ensure stability within the region.

“The Airmen made the deployment,” said Master Sgt. Christopher Ebeling, 366th SFS superintendent of installations security. “I could not have asked for a better group of defenders to be the first Air Force security forces team in Kenya.”
