MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- The 366th Fighter Wing Education Center held an education fair May 22, 2019, at the Gunfighter Fitness Center here.

The fair presents educational opportunities available online and across Idaho by bringing many schools together in one place so attendees can shop around and find a degree that suits them.

“The Gunfighter Education Center wants to help build awareness for Airmen to go to school,” said Ted Byerly, 366th Force Support Squadron chief of education and training. “Right now, only 9.8 percent of [MHAFB] Airmen are pursuing an education, though according to the data, 95 percent of Airmen here joined the military for education benefits.”

Over 23 schools and education programs were offered to Airmen and their families represented during the fair.

“I’m about to test for Staff Sergeant and I haven’t completed my Community College of the Air Force degree yet, so I’m trying to find the best school to attend,” said Senior Airman Jordan Landrey, 366th FSS community events program coordinator. “Getting exposure to so many colleges at once is great way for me to find what I need.”

The education center wants to provide Airmen and their families with the best education opportunities possible by coordinating an annual education fair, and also provide information about GI benefits and tuition assistance within their office.

“I just want to thank the education center for putting the fair together,” Landrey said. “I didn’t know the Air Force offered so many opportunities. It’s awesome that there are so many schools for Airmen to go to.”

If you were unable to attend this year’s education fair or have questions about what the education center can offer you, please email ed.center@us.af.mil for more information.
