366th Security Forces Squadron defenders participated in Emergency Services Team training here, Nov. 27, 2017.

The training course began with a no-notice recall, which started the evaluation of the overall capability of the EST.

"It is very important that people are prepared for high stress," said Matt Schneider, Forward Movement Training Center president. "We hear a lot that we fight how we train. If we are training in environments that are not providing that element of stress, then we are not invoking the fight or flight aspect of our brains and that is critically important."

This training prepared the Airmen to perform as a Special Weapons and Tactics team.

"It's a nationally accredited training that allows us to be recognized as a SWAT team and we can respond to any emergency on base without having to wait for outside agencies," said Staff Sgt. Thaddeus Couchman, 366th Security Forces Squadron response force leader.

Training scenarios included crisis negotiation, room clearing, active shooter and much more. The scenarios better prepare the team to be ready at a moment's notice.

"I've done years and months of training and I'm ready for any situation, emergency or otherwise, that comes up," Couchman said.
