7/20/2012 - MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho  -- Fifteen two-man teams of anglers from the 366th Logistics Readiness Squadron competed in their fourth annual bass tournament, July 12 at the Strike Dam marina.

The event is a squadron function which performs an important purpose.

"This tournament is great because it gives us the opportunity to boost morale while having some good-natured fun on the water," said Mark Travis, 366th LRS resource advisor. "Also for the winners there will be bragging rights until next year."

Not even numerous tiny gnats flying around their faces could keep the anglers from concentrating on their individual goals of catching the biggest bass.

The first place team was Senior Master Sgt. Brian Schexnider, 366th petroleum, oil and lubricant superintendent and Master Sgt. Matthew Brooker, 366th POL fuels information service center section chief, who together brought in six bass with a total weight of 6.93 pounds.

"It feels phenomenal to be the champion," stated Schexnider. "But being out on the water and competing with my fellow Airmen is what's best about this tournament."

Many anglers brought their own boats or rented one from Strike Dam marina.

"The marina employees from the Force Support Squadron really helped us make this happen today," said Travis. "This kind of an event brings people together in the spirit of competition and helps build camaraderie between the Airmen. Once morale is increased, productivity will follow."
