MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho --
The 389th Fighter Squadron and the 726th Air Control Squadron deployed hundreds of airmen over the month of October.
The 389th FS provides combat airpower while the 726th ACS contributes airspace capabilities to the mission in Southwest Asia.
Our mission is to have trained Gunfighters year-round to stay deployment ready to meet mission requirements, Col. Jefferson O'Donnell, 366th Fighter Wing commander explained.
The 389th FS mission has supported Operation Inherent Resolve over the past two years by sending hundreds of prepared Gunfighters to accomplish America's objectives.
The 726th ACS is responsible for mobile, decentralized command and control of joint operations by conducting threat warning, battle management, theater missile defense, weapons control, combat identification and strategic communications.
"The Gunfighters mission is to fight and win today's war and the next," O'Donnell said. "We have to be ready to take the fight to the enemy at a moment's notice."
